The Ircon MODLINE 3 Thermometer is a non-contact, Infrared
Radiation Thermometer designed to meet the critical
needs of today's industrial requirements. The MODLINE 3 Series
features a broad line of infrared thermometers to
match specific applications in many industries. The
system offers you the choice of temperature sensors with
sophisticated single lens reflex (SLR) focusing that can view spots
as small as 0.012 inches (0.3mm), or infrared sensors using
two color (ratio) technology to tolerate more than
95% reduction in radiant intensity, or fiber optic
sensors for difficult to reach or obstructed targets.
The MODLINE 3 Indicator/Processor consists of a high performance
sensor and microprocessor-based digital Indicator/Processor.
Many standard features are included and only a two-point
On/Off controller/alarm or a PID controller are optional.
Additionally, Ircon offers standard accessories to
meet the demanding environmental requirements you may
have, such as air purge and water cooling, sight tubes
and mounting assemblies.
MODLINE 3 utilizes advanced microprocessor technology
to process highly accurate temperature signals received
from the temperature sensor. This data is accurately displayed
on a highly visible LED digital display in °F

MODLINE 3 Indicator/Processor
The MODLINE 3 Indicator/Processor is a compact, self-contained,
microprocessor based signal processor and display designed for
simple installation, operation and service.
The instrument is designed to operate with all MODLINE
3 temperature sensors and provides the input power to operate
the sensor. Temperature signals from the sensor are
displayed on a large visible, 0.8 inch (20.5 mm),
LED display in °F or °C. MODLINE 3 offers
you three standard selectable isolated analog output
signals; 4 to 20mA, 0 to 20mA and 5µA per degree
for your analog process control instruments. The analog
outputs are adjustable to cover any portion of the
instruments available temperature span to a minimum
of 50° C or F. A standard RS-485 digital signal output
is available for two-way digital communications for
your digital process control instruments.
MODLINE 3 provides as standard features a complete
range of signal conditioning functions, including
Emissivity/E Slope, Track and Hold, Peak Picker and
Response Time. Optional features offered are On/Off
Controller or PID Controller.
The MODLINE3 Indicator/Processor includes a large
LED display dedicated for temperature display and
a smaller alpha numeric vacuum fluorescent digital
display that is dedicated for displaying menu and
control function inputs. Set-up and operation are
easily configured using a four button keypad.
TEMPERATURE SENSORS
The MODLINE 3 system offers you the widest choice
of non-contact infrared sensors to match any process.
MODLINE 3 sensors offer sophisticated single lens
reflex (SLR) focusing, that can view spots as small
as 0.012 inches (0.3 mm); or for difficult, high temperature
and harsh environments, some model series incorporate
fiber optics for added flexibility. These rugged,
high performance infrared sensors feature through-the-lens
sighting of target, incorporating a circular reticle
visible through the eyepiece that defines the exact
spot to be measured.
The optical system, detector and electronics are housed
in a rugged sealed casting rated NEMA 4 (IP66), to
perform in the harsh industrial environments. MODLINE
3 sensors are designed to match existing mounting
configurations and offer a choice of cooling and environmental
protection accessories.
